A 42-Year-Old African American Male Lands Promotion with the Help of The Ginac Group's Leadership Development Training

John Feo, Director of Food Services

Problem: John Feo, a 42-year-old African American male, decides to contact The Ginac Group about a promotion to Director that he didn't receive. After high school, John went to work for a food services company in Dallas, and worked his way up to Plant Manager from a data entry clerk. With no further training or schooling, John had always received "excellent" ratings on his annual performance reviews. When he was not promoted, he felt confused, inadequate and angry at his co-worker for taking on the new role.

Solution: The Ginac Group helped John look at the aspects, implications and ramifications of his problem. Together, we explored his values, beliefs, attitudes, defense and coping strategies, ambitions and aspirations. We helped John formulate several different strategies for working with management to better understand why he wasn't chosen for the position, seek out free training courses in business through the local workforce organization and explore ways of modifying several behaviors that interfered with his career progression. After two years of continued training and frequent visits with the us, John attained a Director position within his company.
