Overview
Problem: Steve, a 35-year-old Hispanic male, dropped of college at the end of his junior year. Three years ago he founded a technology company and took on the role of Chief Executive Officer. Three months ago he was fired by the Board of Directors for lack of performance. Specifically, Steve was unable to meet his sales targets three quarters in a row and released a product six weeks after its scheduled date putting millions of dollars at risk. Steve was referred to a The Ginac Group from a Board member because of his declining self-confidence and inability to make a successful career transition. Steve had been unemployed for six months and was living off credit cards. When he did get an interview, employers either turned him away from opportunities because he was not "seasoned" enough to be a CEO or employers didn't want to hire him because they believed was overqualified for the role. We also introduced Steve to a financial planner who helped the family develop a plan to overcome their financial hardship and build for the future. After three months of dedicated effort, he accepted an executive-level sales job with a publishing company. In addition to helping Steve find meaningful work, the career development process changed his self-image, improved his marriage and saved his home. Steve's wife also benefited greatly from engaging in the process. She accepted a part-time position and is now working outside the home for the first time in 20 years.
